CANCELLED: Southend West Election Hustings announced

Due the events in London last night and the suspension of campaigning of many of the parties, tonight’s Southend West Hustings event has been cancelled.

The church will be open from 6.30pm for a brief time of prayer and reflection for those affected by last night’s events, but also for the upcoming election. You would be most welcome to join us – whatever your faith perspective.

We will update as and when we have any further information.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by last nights tragic events.

As the general election approaches Leigh Road Baptist Church has once again invited a number of the candidates for Southend West to a hustings event.

Sir David Amess (Conservative), Julian Ware Lane (Labour), Lucy Salek (Liberal Democrats), John Stansfield (UKIP) and Dominic Ellis (Green) have accepted our invitation to take part. Information on the campaigns of the other two candidates standing, Tino Callaghan (Southend Independent Association) and Jason Pilley (Independent), will, we hope, be available on the evening.

Questions are being gathered beforehand so that we can make best use of the 2 hours and so that we can ensure the candidates will be asked about local, national and international issues that have the broadest concern amongst those attending.

Hustings Question by the end of Friday, June 2nd 2017.

Hope to see you there and please do spread the word! Thank you.

Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start..
