Coronavirus Response | Leigh Road Baptist Church

Leigh Road Baptist Church | Corona Virus Updates

Updated Saturday 26 March 2022, 20:36 hrs

We are in unprecedented times and although government restrictions are being relaxed, we’re trying to do our best for everyone as we continue to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keeping safe at Leigh Road Baptist Church gatherings

With the removal of all remaining government restrictions relating to COVID-19 we will no longer be asking that you wear a mask when you attend gatherings at LRBC or that you follow a one-way system around the church.  However, we continue to strongly recommend:

  • The use of hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the building
  • Maintaining social distance when choosing where to sit and when moving around

In addition

  • It remains important to keep the premises well ventilated so windows and doors will be open. Please do remember to wear warm clothing
  • An area of seating is provided in the rear right-hand corner for those who do not wish to sit with people who are not wearing a mask and/or will be singing
  • Teas/coffees will usually be available after the 10.30am gathering in the main hall

For those unable to attend on-site LRBC are live streaming the 10:30 am gathering via Facebook Live | YouTube (Please subscribe on YouTube) and Twitter.

Other activities have opened again, please check the website or your group leader for more information on specific activities, services and events.

Bookings and room hire

As Government restrictions are lifted we are open to take bookings for the hire of the Main Hall (with access to the Church Garden) and The Lounge and The Loft in The Stables. Please contact Susan Fyvie who looks after bookings via the church office on 01702 478698 or via email for further information on charges and availability.

You will understand that our plans and activities may need to change at short notice if government advice and guidance is amended.

Community Action Response to COVID-19

5 things you can do to make a positive difference in your community

Think of others, consider your actions & be kind

People in every community will face the challenges of Covid-19 in some way –from needing basic provisions to help while they are unwell.

Connect and reach out to your neighbours

As self-isolation increases, we need to find new ways to stay connected and check on one another for our physical and mental wellbeing. Share phone numbers and stay in touch.

Make the most of local online groups

Keep up to date, share accurate information and be a positive part of your local community conversations.

Support vulnerable or isolated people

Different groups in our communities are at increased risk and social isolation and loneliness are key concerns for all ages. There are things you can do like volunteering for local support services or donating to foodbanks to help.

A self-isolation support group has been set up on Facebook for those around Southend-on-Sea needing help during this time.

Share accurate information and advice

Support anyone who may be anxious about COVID-19. Signpost them to the correct advice from Public Health England and the NHS and encourage people to follow the correct hygiene practices.
