This summer, Leigh Road Baptist Church (LRBC) is home to a vibrant gathering of penguins as part of Waddle-on-Sea<\/em>\u2014a joyful public art trail created by Havens Hospices<\/strong> in partnership with Wild in Art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Penguin<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Running until Wednesday 3rd September<\/strong>, Waddle-on-Sea<\/em> features over 30 large penguin sculptures<\/strong> and more than 70 baby penguins<\/strong> spread across Southend-on-Sea and Leigh-on-Sea. We\u2019re thrilled to be hosting nine beautifully decorated baby penguins<\/strong> in our Welcome Area<\/strong> on Marguerite Drive, with one impressive giant penguin<\/strong> standing proudly just outside the church garden on Leigh Road<\/strong>\u2014a colourful ambassador for creativity, compassion and community spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trail celebrates local art and raises vital funds for Havens Hospices<\/strong>, which provides free, specialist care for children and adults living with incurable conditions across Essex, supporting them and their loved ones through some of life\u2019s most difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so pleased to be part of Waddle-on-Sea,\u201d said David Elcock<\/strong>, LRBC\u2019s Community Worker.
\u201cAfter hosting many elephants during Herd in the City<\/em> two years ago, it\u2019s a joy to welcome these brilliant penguins to the church. These trails are more than just fun\u2014they raise awareness and funds for an incredible charity doing essential work in our community. It\u2019s a real privilege to be involved again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Each penguin has been uniquely designed by local artists, schools or community groups, offering a free and inspiring way to explore the city while supporting a cause that touches so many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While trail maps are not available at LRBC<\/strong>, you can pick them up from Havens Hospices shops<\/strong>, the Pier Information Centre<\/strong>, The Forum<\/strong>, Leigh Library<\/strong>, and the Waddle-on-Sea<\/em> HQs at The Royals Shopping Centre<\/strong> and Haven’s<\/strong> Reloved<\/strong> 141 Leigh Road<\/strong>. Or, for digital explorers, download the Waddle-on-Sea<\/em> app from the App Store<\/strong> or Google Play<\/strong> to guide your trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the trail, all penguins will gather one final time for a special Farewell Weekend<\/strong> on 13\u201314 September<\/strong>, before many are auctioned to raise even more money for Havens Hospices\u2019 vital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
