Badminton

Leigh Road Baptist Church (LRBC) Badminton Club is a friendly club that is non league, but competitive but fun between the individual members and pairs. It has been running for over 10 years.

We meet every Wednesday during school term time and the club runs from 7pm to 10pm.

The club is open to anyone, over the age of 16, in the local area that wishes to join. The hall is located on the church premises. All equipment can be provided. We only have one court so games are organised by the club leader - they are structured in such a way so that by the end of the evening most people have had the chance to play with every member attending that night. We generally play doubles matches, both mixed and single sexed. Tea, coffee and cold drinks are available every night at no cost, and the occasional biscuit or snack also creeps in on occasions. The club aims to provide a sociable evening out for its members.

For more details about the badminton club contact the Church Office.

Tennis

Leigh Road Baptist Church purchased some land by Victory Path after the Second World War and LRBC Tennis Club was formed in the late 1940s. It has an open membership policy and we have members from other churches and some with no church affiliation. All ages and abilities are welcome.

The entrance is via Crosby Road( between numbers 22-26, opposite the junction with Chadwick Road) in Westcliff. We have three well-maintained, coloured surface hardcourts, and there is the added opportunity of being able to use our neighbouring clubs' courts when our own demand for extra playing surfaces is necessary.

In addition we have a comfortable clubhouse with refreshment bar, changing rooms and toilets; a grass patio area, and a sizeable grass lawn for youngsters' and adult.

Yearly adult membership is £150(£80 summer) with discounts for students and juniors. Membership allows players to use the club courts and clubhouse any time of the week except during times of worship on Sundays, and during home League matches, which is on a Wednesday evening.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome to play tennis or to merely socialise at the Club. However, if a visitor plays more than five sessions in any one season, they are requested to apply for membership.
