Rev Steven Hembery: Senior Minister
Steven is married to Jennie and they have two grown-up daughters, Becky and Sarah. Before entering the Baptist Ministry, Steven was a Chartered Accountant but left accountancy in 1983 to read theology at Oxford University. After leading churches in Hammersmith and Crawley, Steven came to Leigh-on-Sea in September 2000. He is an interested spectator of most sports and can be found playing tennis at LRBC Tennis Club whenever he gets a chance.
Sylvie Lowe: Pastoral Care Coordinator
Sylvie Lowe has been a member of Leigh Road Baptist Church since becoming a Christian in 1988. She worked with Baptist Missionary Society (BMS) World Mission from 1998 to 2004, firstly in North Africa and then in the Lebanon. Since her return from overseas mission she has been working full-time with the church as Pastoral Care Coordinator working alongside the Ministers in seeking to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support for people within our community.
Gerry Thornton: Access To Services for the Elderly Coordinator
Gerry is married to Billie and they have 2 sons Ben and Luke. He worked as an IT Systems and Business Analyst in the city for 31 years before being made redundant in 2008. Gerry splits his week working for the church and runs his own Community Interest Company iComputeIT which teaches people over 50 how to use their computers effectively.
His church work includes helping the elderly access recreational and essential support services and assisting the pastoral team to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support for the elderly.
He is also an active member of a local amateur dramatic group.
Jane Brookes: The Stables and Premises Bookings
Jane thinks that Leigh is a fantastic place to live with her family, everything is so convenient - the beach, the park, the Broadway, the school and church. Her family enjoy being part of Leigh Road Baptist Church, there is a stack of stuff going on for every age group.
Jane strongly believes that the local church should be active in the local community, which is why she enjoys her work of facilitating all sort of events and activities taking place in The Stables (purpose built for community use) and the premises at Leigh Road Baptist Church.
Recently Jane has been involved in developing plans which will substantially improve and enhance the LRBC buildings.

Robin Hammond: Site Manager
Robin is married to Joy and is a Leigh man through and through. Robin opens up the premises and greets most users of our facilities. His maintenance skills keep the extensive LRBC site in check and his warm manner is a real asset to us at LRBC. If Robin can help he will.
When not at the church Robin enjoys holidaying in Scotland or walking his dog.
Julie Eady: Financial Administrator, Oasis The Coffee House Business Manager and IT support
Julie is married to Martin and is a qualified Management Accountant. Julie splits her working week between managing all the financial aspects of LRBC and being a self employed book keeper.
Her interests include Golf, wine and socialising. Julie is heavily involved in volunteering at the church and with its community work.
David Elcock: Creative/Community Coordinator and IT support
David's work at the church is extremely varied, he collaborates with the ministers and those providing spiritual content to enhance the creative communication.
David leads the churches community work and finds ways that the church can get involved in helping with events and causes in Leigh that will make a difference. He volunteers as a leader of the youth groups at LRBC and supports the work of Love Southend.
